Mountain biking and cycling
Biking
in the Zillertal
‘over hill and dale’
The Zillertal has 800 kilometres of well-developed bike and cycle routes for you - from easy rides over high-altitude pass roads to challenging single trails for real mountain bikers, everything is here. If you want to get out and about on two wheels in our region, there is always a suitable route for you.
Large Penkentour
“a real challenge”
You can expect crisp climbs, as the route climbs over 1,600 metres in altitude. On the 40-kilometre route, you can breathe in the mountain air and enjoy the mountain world, but also look forward to rapid descents. You should allow around 4 hours for this tour.
Bike tours for
beginners and experts
Would you like to cycle high up on the mountain but avoid the strenuous ascent on your bike? No problem: the Penkenbahn cable car takes you and your bike to the start at an altitude of almost 2,000 metres. Easy tours such as the ‘Penken Genusstour’ start there, as does the ‘Penkenbahn II’ route, which takes you downhill across beautiful Alpine pastures towards Mayrhofen.
Biking in the valley
The Zillertal tour is a relaxed route that we are happy to recommend: the well-developed Zillertal cycle path starts in Mayrhofen and connects the most important towns in the valley over a distance of 31 kilometres.
Along the way, you not only get to know the region, but also pass outdoor pools and adventure parks. There are also plenty of opportunities for a culinary stopover.
